How/When to get rid of the pacifier?
My daughter is 20 months old and has a pacifier but only when she's sleeping. She doesn't get it any other time than her nap and her bedtime. I'm wondering if this is too old? She's been off the bottle since 12 months, and doesn't have a blankie or a stuffed animal that she is close to like so many other children, so her Nuk is her security thing. I don't really think it's a huge deal, but a lot of the people in my life, i.e. my mother, mother in law, etc are telling me she is too old and needs it taken away.
How old is too old?
And how would I go about taking it away?

Whenever the time is right for you AND her. At 20 months, it isn't causing her any problems, so don't sweat that. I didn't take my daughters til she was almost 3, and I just took them all, told her she was a big girl now & didn't need them, and she cried around for a few days but after that, it was over. She is fine, they didn't damage her in any way & she had them for her security for a few years.
All kids are different. Don't let people tell you when to do something with YOUR kid.
