My hamsters weird behaviour?

I have a middle aged female hamster called minky. I had her since she was just a baby and she was the last female dwarf hamster lef tin the pet shop. She is always much more eager to get out of the cage than my mal hamster and when she in she will always bite me, especially if i let her on the soles of my hands. On top there is not enough skin to grip but she will always want to bite something with a nice soft texture including me. What can i do to make her stop this. Whats more she has very short legs and waddles very slowly like a penguin. I find this cute but it could be like a nerve problem or something i dont know. Her tails slightly slantly and she will always poop outside of the cage dropping little pellets everywhere. Is there something wrong with her?

Unfortunately, I have only ever owned and/or bred syrian hamsters. But this sounds pretty typical. Hamsters are still very much 'wild' animals, and even dogs (who have been living with us for centuries) are approx 99.9% wolf, whether it's a chihuahua or an Irish Wolfhound.

So your hammie just may not be as domesticated as some, as it were. But because she won't seem to do it hard, it's probably just a tester bite. This is when a hamster bites you to see who you are, and perhaps what you're made of. If you had just had apple, and she didn't know whether it was food or something nasty, she would no a little nibble. If it doesn't put up a fight and tastes good, she might bite you. To combat this, you just need to have a hand smelling of anything but food, (even meat, because hamsters will occasionally need this to enrich their diet!) and just do a little quick movement and a quick 'Oi!' to stop her. And don't put her away, because otherwise she will learn biting means 'home'! And, in other words, that means a comfy bed.

As for the pooing, it isn't her trying to do it. If it is, she's just trying to spread her territory! You can stop this by putting a little litter tray in each corner. They are very cheap, and eventually you might be able to get her litter trained.

And, finally, for the waddling, she may be over-weight. But hammies often walk like that. They're just clumsy little critters. =D
