How much is an Amish Quilt worth today that was purchased in 1990 for $350 and has never been used?
There was a fire in my home and the company that was responsible for cleaning and storing my belongings mistakenly washed it in an industrial washing machine instead of sending it out to be appropriately cleaned and the colors bled. They are asking me how much this handmade Amish quilt is worth.
About $350 dollars.
Actually, there's been inflation in the last 20 years. Probably the best way to determine is to check online for prices of similar pieces being produced today. Generally the appropriate measurement is a "replacement fee," which means it matters how much it would cost to purchase one today. Since the Amish still make quilts, and since the quality is the same then as now, and since it's not old enough to have "antiquity" value, you can just go based on current market prices.
